Welcome
No Censorship is a forum to discuss censorship and ways of fighting it.
Discussion also takes place on the no-censorship mailing list. subscribe here
Ideas and articles that will be useful in preparing submissions and campaigns are transferred here to this forum.
Although attached to a bdsm website you do not have to have an interest in bdsm to join, simply an interest in preventing censorship, mainly on the internet but also in life in general.
Please be warned however, whilst the discussion of censorship does not usually need descriptive text or images, there are times when this may be the case and such text and images may be of a bdsm nature.
No Censorship DOES NOT condone or promote child pornography or paedophilia and will never argue for it's acceptance.
No Censorship DOES NOT condone models being forced to pose for photos or act in movies against their will.
No Censorship DOES support the principles that:
Adults should be able to read, hear and see what they want;
Minors should be protected from material likely to harm or disturb them;
Everyone should be protected from exposure to unsolicited material that they find offensive;

"The Chinese government has encouraged the growth of the internet but
has imposed restrictions on access to foreign news sites and struck a
controversial deal with Google to filter pro-democracy or anti-China
content."
Is the Rudd Government comtemplating a similar deal for censorship in Australia?

Is consent a defence to a charge of assault in bdsm play?
BDSM activivities are often seen by the vanilla world as being assault. Does the fact that the participants have consented to play constitute a valid defence to a charge of assault?

| Offending the reasonable person |
|
 |
Has the reasonable person become more broadminded?
something says that material to be banned is that which the reasonable person would find offensive.
What a reasonable person would find offensive has, according to our courts, remained unchanged for more than 50 years, yet most reasonable people I meet and read about would like to view what is often banned.
Topics on this subject should be discussed in this section of the board.
